One small step…

Posted on April 20, 2008 by | 3 Comments

on July 21,1969 Neil Armstrong made his descent to the Moon’s surface and spoke his famous line “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind”

Think about it for a moment…

The longest journey starts with a step…

Great ocean liners are controlled by small rudders…

Mighty treasure chests are unlocked by little keys…

Large doors hang on small hinges…

Huge horses are controlled by little bridles…

Massive missiles are launched by thumb sized buttons…

The tallest palm tree was once a tiny nut wrapped up in a fibrous sheath. The most majestic oak tree was once a miserable acorn concealed in a crusty cone. The heaviest giant was once a small spermatozoa floating in the loins of a man who may have been much smaller. Through these, God teaches us a profound lesson – He can do the greatest things with the smallest things.

Do you remember when you were a toddler? Try. Remember when you said your first “mama”, when you took your first few faltering steps without Dad’s hands holding your tiny arms. Maybe you can’t remember but you sure can remember your first days of playing football or playing house or weaving your doll’s hair.

Open your photo album; you probably have a picture of your first birthday. See yourself – there you are, blowing out the solitary candle flame standing proudly on your colorful cake. Look at yourself now. Compare what you were then to whom you are now. What a great difference!

Things have changed and so have you.

What would you look like without your nose?

What would your favorite soup taste like without a pinch of salt?

How would your finest pen write without a ball point or an opening in its pointed tip?

How would your house look like without one of its roofing sheet?

Well, that’s how the world will look without the little you have to offer. That explains why the world looks so absurd, feels so strange and has little or no direction – Someone somewhere has refused to make his “little” contribution.

What you consider “small” might be a big deal to someone else. The mistake most people make is that they keep waiting for the spectacular that they miss out on the little blessings that make life worth living.

You need to realize that there’s a forest in that seed, there’s a flood in that cloud, a global enterprise in that petty trade, a sculptural master piece in that stone…a New York No 1. Bestseller in that little storybook. You never know how much you really have until you nurture it and optimise it.

Somebody needs something you have.

This blog is still very young and largely unknown but I have no doubt that with the process of time it will receive thousands of hits everday (or minute!)

I’m glad you are a part of it’s infancy because you’ll see it bloom into a “life-support” centre.

Now you need to ask yourself what step you need to take to fulfill your dreams. What is that one thing you need to do to make progress. You don’t have to wait for any extraordinary surge of strength.Just step out in faith.Use the resources around you.Take that little step and you might just land on the moon…like Neil Armstrong!
