Youth With A P…

Posted on August 24, 2008 by dami | No Comments

I had the privilege to speak to hundreds of crazy people last weekend(yeah, they are really crazy). It was the national YWAP campmeeting in the city of Kaduna.People came in from different parts of the country. There were also a couple of attendees from abroad.

It wasn’t my first time in Kaduna.I had been in Kaduna before but that was about eight years ago.I was really inspired by the visible difference between what I had seen on my first visit and what I experienced on this trip-Passionate young people…great atmosphere…peaceful ambience…warm hospitality…broad clean roads…but what i found most inspiring was the “purpose-orientation” of the young people who had come from different parts of the world to seek the face of God, rub minds with other great people and receive new strategies to help them transform their communities.

You could see it in their eyes. You could hear it in their voices. You could feel it in their pulse. You could sense it in their attitude.

These were not YOUTH WITH A PROBLEM…

These were not YOUTH WITH A PREDICAMENT…

These were YOUTH WITH A PURPOSE!

I was very comfortable. It was my kind of atmosphere.I love spending time with people who are going somewhere…people who have a dream and a sense of destiny…people who have a sense of purpose. They get my juices flowing.

Purpose is key to every noble accomplishment.

Your purpose is the reason you were born and if you don’t fulfill it, you’ve missed the whole point of being alive

Every thing has a specific purpose.Similarly every person on earth has a purpose…a unique assignment…

I hope you have discovered yours.

If you haven’t or if you are still in the process, i encourage you to stick close to this blog. One of my greatest joys is empowering people to live life at it’s peak.A good place to start is helping them to find and fulfill their purpose.

I was very excited that I was fulfilling my purpose by empowering them to find and fulfill theirs. It’s one experience I will never forget. My body still aches from the pains of speaking for almost four hours within twelve hours(between friday night and saturday morning) but my heart swells with joy because those people will become effective leaders, great fathers, emulatable entrepreneurs, scandal-free ministers because of one or two of the points I shared.

I’M FULFILLING MY PURPOSE.

THEY ARE FULFILLING THEIRS.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH YOURS?

I missed my flight…twice!(contd.)

I had the privileged of being the speaker at an event at the famous University of Benin on sunday, the twentieth of April and it was an experience to say the least.

It was my first time in that ancient city and that visit is one I won’t forget for several reasons.

First of all, I spent almost seven hours on my way to Benin.I was told that it was a three and a half hour journey but to my consternation, I spent twice as much time as I had budgeted. The roads were as bumpy as the road to golgotha.Thankfully, a few things got me going-the interesting conversations of the other passengers, a book I was reading and most of all the assignment I had ahead of me.

Secondly, I got to Benin just in time for my presentation.I had a few minutes to munch on something. Then I was ushered to the venue.

I spoke about personal transformation.I buttressed the fact that transformation is always a function of revelation. The more revelation you have, the more transformation you’ll experience.

Simply put-IF YOU WANT MORE TRANSFORMATION, GET MORE REVELATION!

I used a mirror to drive home the point.God’s word to us is like a mirror. It shows us who we really are and just like we make necessary adjustment when we look in the mirror, we ought also to make adjustments in our mindsets, attitudes, opinions, relationships and expectations when we look into the mirror of God’s word.

When we look into physical mirrors, we make up our faces but when we look into the Word, we make up our minds.

I felt fulfilled at the end of my message to those young people.I knew they were fired up to reach for more of God and ultimately to discover  more of what they could become.I knew there were scores of people whose passion for life-changing information had been rekindled; young men and women who will not rest till they become all they could be.

After that interesting session, I chatted with a few people and made a handful of friends. Then, I was chauffered to my lodge and I had a wonderful night rest…

I missed my flight…twice!

The last twenty four hours have been quite adventurous.

In just twenty four hours I have been privileged to make five new friends, address about two hundred promising people, console one fine lady, visit a couple of landmarks, spend a total of about ten hours on the road and miss my flight twice.

I think that’s a whole lot for twenty four hours.

Right now, my body is begging for a nap.

I’d give you more details over the next couple of days.
