Today is Nigeria’s 51st Independence Day Anniversary.

There are probably as many sentiments about this day as there are people.

Some see it as an opportunity to rehearse their disappointments and discontentment.

Others see it as another opportunity to put up weird pictures with splashes of green and white.

I see it as an opportunity to express gratitude and inspire hope.

It would be delusionary to say there are no challenges. Everyone who listens to the news knows that we still have a long way to go as a country. What I’d like to focus on however, is the will to go on. Inspite of the chaos, crises, confusion and calumny, there is still the will to go on. Where there is a will, there is a way.

I celebrate my country today, not because of where we are but because of that flicker of hope that the winds of ethnic strife, the whirlwind of corruption, the typhoon of terrorism and the pangs of political inbalance have not been able to snuff out.

I celebrate today because you are taking out time to read this and you are going to be a part of the transformation we despertely desire.

I celebrate today because of a few good men (and women) who have not and will not sell their bodies or sell their souls.

I celebrate Nigeria because of our true heroes, whose names do not appear on the headlines, yet are taking giant strides through their integrity, sacrifices and intercessions in the secret.

I celebrate Nigeria because we will turn things around for the better and some day soon, leaders will come from all over the world to learn how to lead their own Nations with excellence.

Let’s celebrate. We will get there. Soon, the TRUTH will set us FREE. Someday, we shall be free indeed.

Relationships are vital.

Our lives are mostly a reflection of the relationships that we have cultivated over the years.

In fact, the people we know often influence who we are. Their opinions, ideas, philosophies,contributions, goals, dreams and aspirations shape our beliefs and ultimately our lives. That’s why we all have a duty to protect our “personal spaces” as we ensure that we maintain godly ties with the people God sends our way.

I am grateful that God has deemed it fit to connect with me with some of Nigeria’s most treasured people.

One of such gems is my big brother, mentor and friend who is a year older today.

On this Special Day, we take out time to celebrate the illustrious life of a great man in every sense of the word: a dotting husband, an exemplary father, a masterful motivator,a legendary leader, a vibrant visionary, a Nation builder, a wise strategist, a Super-Achiever, a follower of Christ Jesus and a lover of people, the INCOMPARABLE FELA DUROTOYE.

Your selflessness, commitment and drive are assets beyond valuation.

My life has been greatly enriched by your wise words and godly conduct.

It is IMPOSSIBLE for the story of my life and times to be written without including the name FELA DUROTOYE.

Thanks for believing in me even ever before I had the opportunity to appear on National Television.

Thanks for teaching me to consider success as a stepping stone to greatness.

Thanks for the gifts you have blessed me on different occasions.

I consider it a huge honor to learn from and work with you.

It is my prayer that as you increase in years, you also increase in Value, Volume and Velocity.

I’m really excited.

It’s my birthday and I’m just so glad that God has kept me alive and in great health.

As I fell on my knees some minutes ago, thanking God for this New Year in my life, a lot of wonderful testimonies flashed through my mind. Several of them. I can say without a shadow of a doubt: God is good.

I have experienced His goodness in every area of my life over the last year and I’m just so excited about what He has already started doing this year.

While I expect to receive calls, messages, cards and gifts, I have decided
not only to receive but more importantly to give.

I can’t give everyone rice and chicken…at least not at this point in my life.

I can’t give everyone spaghetti and soft drinks.
